Over the 2026 Labor Day weekend, the Pennsylvania Convention Center (PA Convention Center) in Philadelphia hosted the AKKA Silver Jubilee World Kannada Conference, the twenty fifth anniversary edition of the flagship gathering of the Association of Kannada Kootas of America. More than 10,000 attendees traveled from across the country for three days of programming that ran from morning to well past midnight. Prime AV delivered the sound, staging, lighting, video wall, multi camera video production and event recording, and the production team that kept all of it running.
The brief: three days, one continuous show
An event on this scale is not a single show. It is a full daytime schedule of seminars, cultural programs, competitions and ceremonies, followed each night by headline concerts on the main stage. The room had to move between formats without ever going dark, and every session had to start on time in front of a hall seating thousands. Our job was to design one production rig that could carry all of it, then run it cleanly for three days straight.
Staging built for the whole weekend
The main stage was built to hold everything from a solo speaker to a full concert lineup, with the sightlines and the load capacity to match. A clean, deep deck gave performers and presenters room to work, and gave us the space to fly lighting and rig the video wall without crowding the stage. Once it was up, it stayed up, which is what let the program move from a morning ceremony to a night concert without a rebuild.
A video wall the whole hall could read
A room this size lives or dies on what the back rows can see. We ran a large format LED video wall as the stage backdrop, carrying live camera feeds, program graphics and the branding for each segment. Live image magnification kept every speaker and performer large and sharp on the screens, so an attendee in the last row saw the same thing as the front. The wall doubled as the visual centerpiece for the concerts, switching from clean presentation content by day to full concert visuals at night.
Multi camera video and event recording
Behind the screens sat a full video production. A multi camera setup covered the stage from several angles and cut live to the IMAG screens and the video wall, feeding image magnification during the daytime sessions and concert visuals at night. Every session and every concert was recorded in full, so AKKA walked away with a clean archive of the entire weekend, ready for highlights, rebroadcast and the community’s own record of the Silver Jubilee.
Lighting for daytime sessions and headline nights
Lighting had to do two very different jobs. By day it kept speakers and performers evenly lit for the cameras and the audience. By night it turned the same stage into a concert, with moving beams, color and haze cued to the music. Building both looks into one rig meant we could shift from a lit seminar to a full concert wash in minutes, not hours.
Sound that carried every seat
Convention halls are hard rooms for audio. We designed and tuned a massive sound system to cover the full seating bowl evenly, so speech stayed clear during the daytime sessions and music stayed full and controlled during the concerts, with no dead zones and no harsh spots. Our front of house team mixed every session live and rode the changes as the program moved from panels to performances.
The nights: full concerts on the main stage
Each evening the room turned over into a concert. The same stage, wall and rig that carried the daytime program powered headline performances for a crowd of thousands, with the sound, lights, screens and cameras all cued together. The energy in the hall at night was the payoff for a rig designed to do both jobs well.
Cultural shows, produced properly
Between the concerts, the daytime stage carried the heart of the conference: dance, music and cultural shows celebrating twenty five years of the community. Each one got the same production care as the headline acts, with clean audio, proper lighting and full camera coverage on the wall, so every group on that stage looked and sounded their best.
Three days, thousands of people, and not a single hiccup. That is the whole point: events can’t go wrong.
Where events can’t go wrong
What makes a weekend like this work is not any single piece of gear. It is one production team that owns the whole chain, from the first morning session to the last note of the final concert, so nothing falls between vendors and nothing gets discovered at the worst moment. Three days, over 10,000 attendees, a full daytime schedule and concerts every night, and it ran clean from start to finish, with no hiccups. That is what we mean when we say events can’t go wrong.
